The Chinese Government recently issued and put into force a set of regulations on national economic survey, the first of which will be conducted at the end of this year.
According to the regulations, endorsed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, the goal of economic survey is to grasp the comprehensive situation of the scale, structure and economic results of China's secondary and tertiary industries, build and improve the list and a databank of the basic units in these areas to serve the making of economic and social development plans.
The survey covers all legal person units, industrial units and individually-run businesses in China. It will be conducted every five years on December 31 of the survey year, according to the regulations.
An official with the leading group on economic survey under the State Council said China's first national economic survey will be held on December 31 of this year. After that, national economic surveys will be held on years ending with the number "3" and "8".
The regulations order targets of economic survey to honestly and timely fill up economic survey forms. Survey workers are required to strictly keep information obtained in the survey confidential.
According to the regulations, statistics about organizations and individuals obtained in the survey are strictly for the purpose of economic survey only. They won't be used by any parties as evidence in the punishing wrong acts.
